Making internal collaboration work

Effective knowledge management within enterprises..

It’s an exceptionally stormy day here in Sydney on a Saturday afternoon, as a big tropical low weaves its way down the eastern coast. A good time to relax and look for some inspiration.

I’ve always followed McKinsey. The work that they’ve done reporting on the impact of digital and social has been invaluable so yourself a favour and sign up for the McKinsey Quarterly.

In this video Don Tapscott, an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto, author and strategist describes why effective knowledge management within enterprises requires replacing e-mail with social media.

And if you want to see more of Don, here’s a great TED Talk that I found well worth the viewing.

‘Four Principles for the Open World.’

And coincidentally (for me anyway) he ends with the beautiful Murmuration video as a metaphor for community.

I first saw this at the Swarm Conference for Community Managers, a couple of years ago. If you haven’t seen it yet…..

A collection of Starlings is called a Murmuration

Food for thought on a wet and windy afternoon.
